Roatanian Troy Mitchel De La Cruz Cooper Achieves Milestone in Aviation Career

A young Roatan man is reaching new heights in aviation, turning a lifelong dream into a professional reality.

Troy Mitchel De La Cruz Cooper, born on May 19,1998, in Coxen Hole, represents the fourth generation of his family rooted in the island community. He is the son of Kathlynn Mabel Cooper Solorzano, daughter of Dorothy Silvia Solorzano Dilbert and William Asberth Cooper Hurlston, and Royce Lincoln De La Cruz Valledarez, son of America Valledarez Bodden and Miguel Asaves De La Cruz Perez, who was raised on Oak Ridge Cay.

From an early age, Troy stood out as a focused and determined student with a clear goal in mind: becoming a pilot. That vision eventually led him to pursue professional training at the Centro de Adiestramiento Aéreo Académico in El Salvador.

Through dedication and discipline, Troy successfully completed his training, graduating with honors. Along the way, he earned his Private Pilot License, Commercial Pilot License, and Multi-Engine Rating — key certifications required in the aviation industry.

Today, he has accumulated significant flight hours and continues building his career as a professional aviator, representing the determination and ambition of a new generation of islanders pursuing opportunities beyond the horizon.
